Our first batch of letters!

Our first batch of our support letters started going out this week. Very exciting! We have so many more addresses to collect for the next batch. And it is not easy work!

Even though the US is in an economic crisis right now, we know that with God all things are possible! We are praying that he will greatly bless and multiply the funds of those who feel led to give.

Recently Spoke at UNA's ILR

Recently we were invited with a group from our church to speak about Paraguay at a meeting of UNA's Institute for Learning in Retirement. We gave a quick history of Paraguay and showed some pictures of the projects that our church supports, and talked about our recent mission trips to Paraguay. We also sold some of the Toba Indian crafts that we bought on our last trip and handed out some prayer cards. It was great! They asked lots of good questions. They even invited us to the refreshments they were having afterward.

Commissioning Service

I've been meaning to blog about our Commissioning Service for a while...
...but it is kind of hard to describe.

The service was on September 10th and located in Norcross, GA near the Mission Society offices. We met the Board members for the first time. It was also great to met the other missionaries who we haven't met before. It was great to see how much the staff and Board really care about missions.

There was great worship, speakers, discussion time, fellowship time, and food. We learned a lot, as we always do at each visit to Norcross.

We were blessed to have some of our church family there with us. It was a very special time.

What a mighty God we serve!

Grandson on the way soon

I just heard from people in Paraguay that Pastor Pablo's daughter will soon be having her baby. He wants us to be praying for Rebecca.

Commissioning Service at The Mission Society

Amy and I will be having a Commissioning Service at The Mission Society in Norcross, GA on the morning of Wednesday, September 10th. We just found out that we can invite family and friends to be there, too. If you would be interested in being there, please see me or Amy for more info. Please let us know by Sunday, August 31st. We need to let them know how many will be coming with us.

If you can think of anyone else who might be interested in going, please pass this along to them.

God Bless,
Jonathan & Amy

Update on the Santa Rosa Daycare

Amy received an email update on the daycare on Sunday. Yea!
Subject: RE: Daycare Children

Hi,

Blessings from Pastor Hugo and Estella. There are 35 children at present. They will compile a list of the children's names and birthdays for you. Estella will do it this week. The children need toys. Small trucks for the boys and small baby dolls for the girls. No plastic or porclein. The toys need to be hardy in order to last.

The team from 'my' (Liz's) church arrived on July 21st and left August 2, 2008. They built a porch in the front over the new doors. They built a porch over the patio in the back. The front walls were stuccoed. The glass was put in all of the windows. Both bath rooms now have plumbing fixtures, toilets, wash basins and showers where needed. The baths and the kitchen were tiled (walls and floors). The electricity was pulled throughout the building. Waiting on Ande to install meter and run the wire to the electric box on the building. The floors have a layer of concrete on them and the guys will begin to lay the remainder of the tile on the floors this week and then will put the second coat of paint on the inside and paint the exterior. Pastor Pablo estimates that this will take two weeks.

God bless you for all you do!

Liz Boggess for Pastor Hugo
That is great news! Thanks Liz for the update!

Much to do...

The Mission Society has lots of books for us to read and classes for us to take to prepare us for the mission field. There is lots to do (and not enough time), but we will talk more about this later. Another thing we have to do is create prayer cards to give out at the places we will go to speak to about raising our prayer and financial support. They should be in soon!

Back safely

The mission team made it back safely yesterday afternoon! They are all very tired. I can't wait to hear all about it and see the pictures. Hopefully, we can post some of them soon. Some numbers that I do have: 63 received Christ and 444 received medical attention. Praise God!

Mission Trip to Paraguay

Amy just left with the mission team from Grace Bible Church and St. James UMC. They are on the way to Paraguay right now. Please pray that they will have a safe trip, God will use them to show His love to the people of Paraguay, and a safe return.

Welcome to our blog!

This blog will be a place to get the latest updates on our journey as we begin raising our support to become full-time missionaries in Paraguay. We also have lots to do that is required by the Mission Society (books to read, classes to take, prayer cards to print, letters to send out, etc.). Pray for us as we move to the "front lines" of spiritual warfare. Check back to this site soon!
