I gave my friend the Bible

After much prayer, I gave my friend the Bible. I went very well! We ended up talking for about an hour. He was very appreciative. The Bible was very impressed that I was able to get it in his native language. (You can find everything on Amazon.com!)

I must confess that I was worrying how it would go... I am a worrier. Afterwards, I was thinking: "That was easier than I thought. What was I worrying about?"

Remember to be a blessing to those around you today. God bless!

Prayer for a friend

Please be in prayer for a friend of mine who I have been praying for. He does not believe in God. I think I may have a chance to talk to him soon. I feel God wants me to give him a Bible. I have the Bible. Now, I am just waiting on God's timing...

What a privilege it is to get to share the Good News with others! Keep your eyes and ears open for opportunities that God will give you to share with others.

Brazil was awesome! We made so many new friends, both American and Brazilian.
Jim from The Mission Society has already posted some pictures at http://picasaweb.google.com/jimbobka. I hope to post some of ours soon. There is so much to tell about this trip. Can't type it all here now. Thanks for all the prayers! God is good!

Update from Paraguay

I received a short email from Amy this morning. She said that today the group working at the daycare will be dressing the children in the new outfits that we purchased for them. They pray for that child silently as they get each child dressed. She also said that part of the group would be painting the outside of the daycare where the flower beds are and putting in soil and planting today.

I have not heard an update on how the church building is going or how the medical clinic is going, but I am sure that it is going good. Amy said that they all line up to check their email every night, so they do not have much time to email much. I can hardly wait to hear how everything went Sunday. You will not want to miss that and the great pictures from the trip.

Please continue to lift of prayers for the team, the children and workers at the daycare, the people who come to the medical clinic, the people who come to the worship services, the Toba Indians, the people who will be a part of the church our team is building, and the country of Paraguay.

Imperfection and Unworthiness

One of the big struggles in this process that I went through (and sometimes still go through) is the feeling of unworthiness.

My devotion today shared a great verse:
"If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done" (Ecclesiastes 11:4 NLT)
I continue to realize that it is not about me, but it is about God. He is in control. As I continue to grasp this concept, fear and worry disappear. It really is the peace that passes understanding.

Praise God!

Being A Servant

I love this quote from John Wesley:
"Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as you ever can."
I pray that God will help us to become that kind of servant.

This Is Something Bigger Than Me

There is a song that they are playing on Christian radio a lot these days that really touches me. The song is "Whatever You're Doing (Something Heavenly)" by Sanctus Real. It really describes what God is doing and Amy and my life right now. Every time I hear it, I crank it up, sing along, and tear up. I need to buy this CD if only just for this song. Here are the lyrics:

It's time for healing time to move on
It's time to fix what's been broken too long
Time make right what has been wrong
It's time to find my way to where I belong
There's a wave that's crashing over me
All I can do is surrender

[Chorus]
Whatever you're doing inside of me
It feels like chaos somehow there's peace
It's hard to surrender to what I can't see
but I'm giving in to something heavenly

Time for a milestone
Time to begin again
Revaluate who I really am
Am I doing everything to follow your will
or just climbing aimlessly over these hills
So show me what it is you want from me
I give everything I surrender...
To...

[Chorus]

Time to face up
Clean this old house
Time to breathe in and let everything out
That I've wanted to say for so many years
Time to to release all my held back tears

Whatever you're doing inside of me
It feels like chaos but I believe
You're up to something bigger than me
Larger than life something heavenly

Whatever you're doing inside of me
It feels like chaos but now I can see
This something bigger than me
Larger than life something heavenly
Something heavenly

It's time to face up
Clean this old house
Time breathe in and let everything out

To An Exciting 2009

I hope that your Christmas was a blessed one. Ours was packed with lots of friends and family, lots of food, and many blessings. Some of the greatest blessing were the chances to be a blessing to someone in need. That is one of the great things about Christmas.

2009 will be an exciting year for us. We are glad we will be able to share it with you.

God Bless,
The Killens
