A Little about Paraguay:
    • Located west of southern Brazil. The country is land-locked.
    • Second poorest country in South America (as of 2010); The ”middle class” is almost non-existent; 32% = below poverty line.
    • Ravaged by 200 years of war; Largest war was in 1870 killed 2/3 of adult male population.
    • In 1954, was start of 35 years of a military dictatorship
    • In 1989, the dictatorship fell.
    • In 1992, a democratic government was setup.
    • Field opened to Christians in 1988.
    • The first church was planted by a Brazilian lawyer in 1989.
    • There are currently around 38 churches (mostly in the rural Interior)
    • Size of Paraguay compares to the US state of California.
    • The population of Paraguay compares to the US state of Tennessee.
    • Population in the capitol city of Asuncion compares to Las Vegas or Atlanta (about 550,000), but the area of the city is similar to the area of the city of Fort Payne, AL.
    • The "Greater Asuncion" population is 2.3 million and compares to Chicago or Houston. One third of all Paraguayans live in this metropolitan area.
    • 89% of Paraguayans are Catholic and 8% are Protestant (as of 2013)
